About Us

GRIP stands for Gloucestershire Recovery in Psychosis. The GRIP Team is a Countywide Early Intervention in Psychosis Service provided by 2gether NHS Foundation Trust. The aim of the team is to work with people aged 14-35 years old who have or are at risk of developing a first episode of psychosis.

The team now covers the whole of Gloucestershire. We are now located centrally at Albion Chambers on Eastgate Street in Gloucester. The team consists of Psychiatrists, Psychologists, a Sports Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, Social Workers, Nurses and Support Workers.

Service users accepted by the team can expect to receive a variety of interventions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Family Work, Medication Initiation, and support with accessing practical needs including employment/ occupation, benefits, sport / exercise and education.

The team has an ‘open’ referral system which means that anyone can refer to us, it doesn't matter if you're a mental health worker, a GP, a teacher, a parent, a friend or even if you would like help for yourself. If you feel that you or someone you know might be experiencing some psychotic symptoms then get in touch.

Inpatient Services

The GRIP team has its own dedicated inpatient unit- the Vron, so only people referred to our team are admitted. It has 6 beds and is not at all like hospital, infact its an ordinary house in Gloucester. As the Vron is part of the GRIP team, it makes inpatient stays a bit easier as you have the same care team through out.

Whilst staying at the Vron everyone is expected to help out with cooking and other chores. There is a pool table to play on and there are regular activities to take part in such as movie nights, street dance, an adventure group, a healthy living group, a creative group and a music group. Staff are also keen to help out with work and education.

At the Vron the aim is to provide a safe, homely place to recover from psychosis. Each person has an individual plan to help them achieve this.
